Winter 2017

Supporting healthy, active kids in our community

As part of Moda Health’s ongoing commitment to build healthier communities, for the fourth straight year we’ve teamed up with the Portland Trail Blazers for the Moda Assist Program

Throughout the regular basketball season, the Portland Trail Blazers and Moda each donate $5 for every Blazers assist on the court. At the end of the season, the money raised goes towards a new all-abilities playground for a community in Oregon, which is voted on by the fans. This year’s winner was Hermiston, Oregon.

The entire community of Hermiston rallied together to win the Moda Assist Program. As a result, the city received the funds to give kids in their community a better place to play and stay active.

In October, Moda and the Portland Blazers representatives were on hand for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new playground at Hermiston’s Sunset Park. The celebration included Blazers basketball clinics for boys and girls.

2018 Moda Assist Program cities

Looking ahead to 2018, voters will have a chance to decide between the Oregon communities of Dallas, Redmond and Gresham to see who gets the funds to build a new all-abilities playground in their community. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to learn more.

Our partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers is another way we help support healthy, active living for kids across Oregon.
